'You won't believe where I am' is already the third edition that we are releasing together with Friedrich Kunath. Also this time the edition is realized in high quality and unique - and it was inspired by a special leading idea. Since the summer of 2022, Kunath has been traveling between his new adopted home of Munich and Los Angeles, and so the plan was to create a Munich special in the form of an edition - to support a charitable project. It soon was clear that Friedrich and we would donate a part of the profits to the Münchner Aids-Hilfe e.V.. For this reason, the edition is also higher than usual. Kunath worked on all 50 watercolor prints. Thus the text on each picture were painted by hand. So each sheet is a little different and therefore unique. The format is approximately 53 x 41 cm (about 20.87 x 16.14 in). Archive pigment print on high quality cotton paper that matches the original watercolor with hand torn  edges. Signed and numbered by the artist, the edition comes unframed in an edition of 50 copies. Published by VogelART. Part of the proceeds will go to Münchner Aids-Hilfe e.V.

Mit „You won´t believe where I am“ erscheint bereits die dritte Edition, die wir gemeinsam mit Friedrich Kunath herausbringen. Auch dieses Mal ist die Edition in sehr hoher Qualität und unikatär umgesetzt – und sie wurde von einer besonderen Leitidee inspiriert. Seit Sommer 2022 pendelt Kunath zwischen der neuen Wahlheimat München und Los Angeles und deshalb war der Plan ein München Special in Form einer Edition umzusetzen – um eine gute Sache zu unterstützen. Schnell war klar, dass Friedrich und wir einen Teil des Erlöses der Münchner Aids-Hilfe e.V. zukommen lassen würden. Aus diesem Grund ist auch die Auflage höher als bisher. Kunath hat alle 50 Aquarelldrucke von Hand bearbeitet. So wurde der u.a. Text auf jedem Bild vom handgemalt. Dadurch ist jedes Blatt ein wenig anders und somit einzigartig. Das Format ist ca. 53 x 41 cm (ca. 20,87 x 16,14 in). Archivpigment Druck auf hochwertigem Baumwoll Papier, das dem Original-Aquarell entspricht mit handgerissenen Blattkanten. Vom Künstler signiert und nummeriert kommt die Edition ungerahmt in einer Auflage von 50 Exemplaren. Published bei VogelART. Ein Teil des Erlöses geht an die Münchner Aids-Hilfe e.V.



Friedrich Kunath was born in 1974 in Chemnitz and grew up in East Berlin. He studied with Walter Dahn at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste, today he lives and works in Los Angeles. In 2012 he was awarded the prestigious Sprengel-Preis für Bildende Künste.

His work is characterized by variety, inventiveness and contrasts. East-West, life and death, extreme sadness meets extreme enthusiasm. Painting, drawing, photography and space-filling object installations are the techniques of his work - often combined in mixed media. From figurative painting and abstraction, fantastic worlds emerge in often large-scale formats, which are buried in layers of red, green and grey in the process and then rebuilt on a next layer. Text, signs and sketches are placed in these worlds and stand for relationship, separation, love, humour, despair - which form the conceptual context of every work in Kunath's oeuvre.

Friedrich Kunath's works are represented in collections such as the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles), LACMA (Los Angeles), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), Frans-Hals-Museum (Haarlem), Sammlung Philara (Düsseldorf), Marciano Fondation (Los Angeles). Friedrich Kunath wurde 1974 in Chemnitz geboren und wuchs in Ost-Berlin auf. Er studierte bei Walter Dahn an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste, heute lebt und arbeitet er in Los Angeles. 2012 erhielt er den renommierten Sprengel-Preis für Bildende Kunst.

Sein Werk ist durch Vielfalt, Ideenreichtum und Gegensätze geprägt. East-West, Leben und Tot, extreme Traurigkeit trifft auf extremen Enthusiasmus. Malerei, Zeichnung, Fotografie und raumgreifende Objekt-Installationen sind die Techniken seines Schaffens – oft kombiniert in Mixed-Media. Aus Darstellung und Abstraktion entstehen phantastische Welten in oft raumgreifenden Formaten, die im Prozess schichtweise von Rot Grün und Grau verschüttet werden um sie dann wieder in einer nächsten Ebene aufzubauen. Text, Zeichen und Skizzen werden in diese Welten gesetzt und stehen für Beziehung, Trennung, Liebe, Humor, Verzweiflung - die den konzeptionellen Rahmen jeder Arbeit aus dem Werk Kunaths bilden.

Friedrich Kunaths Arbeiten sind unter anderem in den Sammlungen wie dem Hammer Museum (Los Angeles), LACMA (Los Angeles), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis),  Frans-Hals-Museum (Haarlem), Sammlung Philara (Düsseldorf), Marciano Fondation (Los Angeles) vertreten.
