Gregor Hildebrandt, VogelART and KNUST KUNZ had the wish to realize an edition together. The idea was born during an inspiring visit to Gregor Hildebrandt‘s Berlin studio while listening to Sophie Calle’s records. Quickly agreeing between the three of us that it should be a bronze sculpture, Gregor created „Dreimal und abermals dreimal“. Made with lost-mold casting, one might find unique structures in each edition. The sculpture is inscribed with the Artist’s signature.

Gregor Hildebrandt, VogelART und KNUST KUNZ hatten den Wunsch, eine gemeinsame Edition zu realisieren. Die Idee entstand bei einem inspirierenden Besuch im Berliner Studio von Gregor Hildebrandt beim Hören der neuen Schallspiellatte von Sophie Calle. Als wir drei uns schnell einig waren, dass es sich um eine Bronzeskulptur handeln sollte, entstand die Arbeit „Dreimal und abermals dreimal“. Nach verlorener Form gefertigt, ist jede in sich eine einzigartige Strukture Die Skulptur ist mit der Unterschrift des Künstlers versehen.



Gregor Hildebrandt was born in Bad Homburg in 1974. From 1995 he studied at the Kunsthochschule Mainz with Friedemann Hahn, then from 1999 at the Universität der Künste Berlin with Dieter Hacker. Since 1998 he lives and works in Berlin.

In his pictures and installations, he processes analog recording mediums. In this way, deformed vinyl, cassette boxes or tapes mounted directly on canvas are turned into minimalist works, to which a further, invisible dimension is added through the musical prehistory. Hildebrandt has been Professor of Painting and Graphics at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich since 2015. In 2016 he was awarded the Falkenrot Prize of the Künstlerhaus Bethanien.

 

Hildebrand's works can be found in international museums and private collections. He has had solo and group exhibitions at Almine Rech Gallery, Galerie Perrotin, New York, Kunsthalle Recklinghausen, Recklinghausen, Wentrup Gallery, Berlin, Galeria Casado Santapau, Madrid, Sommer Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv, KIAF Art Fair, Seoul, Kunstlerhaus Bethanien Museum, Berlin, Saarlandmuseum, Moderne Galerie, Galerie Perrotin, Hong Kong, Biennale de Lyon, Museum Van Bommel van Dam, Museum Frieder Burda, Baden-Baden, Kunsthaus Centre PasquArt, Biel, 21er Haus, Vienna, Vanhaerents Art Collection, Brussels and more.

Gregor Hildebrandt wurde 1974 in Bad Homburg geboren.  Ab 1995 studierte er an der Kunsthochschule Mainz bei Friedemann Hahn, danach ab 1999 an der Universität der Künste Berlin bei Dieter Hacker. Seit 1998 lebt und arbeitet er in Berlin.



 

In seinen Bildern und Installationen verarbeitet er analoge Datenträger. So entstehen aus verformtem Vinyl, Kassettenschachteln oder direkt auf Leinwand angebrachten Tonbändern minimalistische Werke, denen durch die musikalische Vorgeschichte eine weitere, unsichtbare Dimension hinzugefügt wird. Hildebrandt ist seit 2015 Professor für Malerei und Grafik an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München. 2016 wurde ihm der Falkenrot Preis des Künstlerhaus Bethanien verliehen.

 

Hildebrands Werke finden sich in internationalen Museen und Privatsammlungen.
